Agriculture

American farmers and ranchers have long been our country’s lifeblood. Our nation’s ability to not only survive but flourish has been largely due to the hard work of those involved in America’s agricultural industry. The United States has long had the safest, most abundant food supply in the world, and there is no doubt that the agricultural producers of north Texas will continue to help supply this nation with a wholesome and superior food supply for generations to come.

As a member of the United States House of Representatives, I represent portions of Cooke, Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant counties, all of which are a vital resource for our nation’s food and textiles industries. It is from within these four counties that many of our country’s exceptional crops are raised, including wheat, cattle, cotton, and hay.

In the 110th Congress, members will be working on important agricultural issues such as food safety, agroterrorism, high energy cost, and the environment. In serving Texas’ 26th District over the past four years, I have worked to designate over $300 billion for the agriculture appropriation bills, which has been directly geared towards helping the American agricultural industry. Provided the opportunity, I will continue to work hard for the farmers and ranchers of America and help ensure our country’s place in the global agricultural market.
