Fort Worth Star Telegram: Signed, sealed delivered
May 8thBy Maria Recio
After weeks of getting tea party supporters in Grand Prairie and elsewhere to sign a giant card for federal lawmakers, with the goal of expressing frustration with bigger government and more spending, that card finally was delivered to Washington, D.C., last week by Arlington's Mel Moss and Craig Ownby.
People began signing the card in Grand Prairie on April 15, at the tea party at the Quik Trip minor-league ballpark, and gathered more signatures at other events later in the month.
Last week, the card was delivered to U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Dallas, along with members of the Texas, Tennessee and Virginia GOP delegations, including U.S. Reps. Michael Burgess, R-Lewisville, and Jeb Hensarling, R-Dallas, at the National Republican Congressional Committee in Washington. Sessions, who heads the NRCC, is clearly doing some fence-mending with conservative tea partiers who have been challenging the traditional GOP.
"I am here to say that Republicans are listening to the American people," Sessions said. "Republicans are committed to retiring Nancy Pelosi and promoting an agenda that represents the will of the American people."
