Congressman Michael Burgess Endorses John McCain

LewisvilleCongressman Michael Burgess, M.D., (R-Lewisville) today announced he has endorsed John McCain for President of the United States.

"Republicans across the country recognize that John McCain is the candidate who can unite our party for victory in November," said Congressman Burgess. "Americans from all walks of life respect John McCain for his heroic service to our country and his commitment to controlling spending, smaller government, and a strong national defense. I am proud to endorse him for president."

Re-elected in 2004 and in 2006, Congressman Burgess now represents District 26 on the high-profile House Energy and Commerce Committee, which is responsible for health care, the safety of food and drugs, energy, and power.  In addition, he is Vice Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee which designs and develops legislative proposals for consideration by the entire Congress.

Imprving health care to make it more affordable is one of Rep. Burgess’ top priorities in the U.S. House of Representatives.  He feels it is one of Senator McCain’s goals as well.  “As a doctor,  I am also encouraged to see John McCain leading the charge to improve health care in a way that respects the freedom of individuals to make important choices for themselves,” commented Rep. Burgess.
